BARR AZUBUIKE NWUKE

Barrister Azubuike Nwuke popularly known as “Zubi” was born into the Nwuke Royal Family of Okomoko Etche to Chief Hon. Jonas Happy Elemuwa Nwuke, MP, Ogbuzo II, Onyishi Etche and Mrs. Evelyn Eberechi Nwuke in 1961.  He attended kindergarten at Enugu and finished his primary education at Township School, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt passing out with Distinction in 1972. Secondary School education was at the prestigious Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borokiri, Port Harcourt where he passed out with Grade One in 1977. Thereafter, he did his GCE Advanced Levels at Federal Government College, Rumuola, Port Harcourt leaving in 1979 and then proceeded to the University of Lagos where he graduated LLB Hons. in 1983 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984.

 

In 1987, he established the Law Firm of A. Nwuke & Associates in Lagos relocated the firm to Port Harcourt in 1997 and has remained the Managing Solicitor of the said firm till date. Professionally, Zubi is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association. He possesses thirty four years cognate experience in Law practice and is currently the most senior Etche Lawyer in legal practice. Along with other colleagues of Etche extraction, he worked assiduously for the establishment of the Okehi Bar which body in turn appointed him the Leader of  the Okehi Bar.

 

The young Zubi was a keen sportsman and in 1975 became the Rivers State Junior Table Tennis Champion and member of the Rivers State contingent to several national table tennis tournaments and sports festivals where he won medals for Rivers State.

 

Zubi is an urbane socialite and is well known in social circles in Port Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja and overseas. He is a member of several prestigious social clubs including the Port Harcourt Polo Club where he has served as Club Secretary, Vice President and President.

 

Zubi is a devout Christian and was appointed the very first Chancellor of Etche Diocese, Anglican Communion by His Grace the very Reverend Okechukwu Precious Nwala, Anglican Bishop of Etche. At the community level, Zubi has been a motivator, influencer, opinion Leader and role model.

 

Zubi Nwuke is an astute political tactician and reformer and has served as the Deputy Secretary of the ANPP, member of the State Caucus and later its Senatorial Candidate for Rivers East District in 2003. He is a doting husband to his amiable wife and father of three wonderful children.
